Re: “Free speech zones rattled college campuses, but new legislation seeks to alleviate grievances

Samuel Elliott here. I want to note that I vetoed the resolution because of the language and lack of substance. Afterwards, I worked with the authors to move the concern to the admin level. At the statewide level, I helped supporters of the state bill with a backing of all 4 CU campus. Go free speech!

Re: “Taking a stand-up

This seems very similar to an article recently published by Julia Serano.

Particularly the "don't punch down" part, but that's none of my business...

John Gordon. I too vote for Red Crags. Best B&B we've ever stayed in, and we've stayed in many all over the country.

Re: “Ready, set, go ... to college

You have a real ability for writing unique Ready, set, go ... to college after College content. I like how you think and the way you represent your views in this article. I agree with your way of thinking. Thank you for sharing.

Re: “Ready, set, go ... to college

I also had some mixed feelings at the beginning and even a little bit depressed but I have read about Egyptians who have to fight instead of going to college. Students were always such people who try to change the situation in the country and their methods and views could be quite aggressive however it is much better than to stay totally indifferent. Speaking about the students of most highly developed countries, they are usually more passive and prefer sitting in front of computer screens accomplishing their tasks (check if you one of them) and writing some unanimous posts if they are not satisfied. It is terrible that lots of students will not start a school year and we don`t know what results it can lead to.

Re: “When the numbers don't work

The ability to write something important and persuade the reader is necessary for every job. That is why students have to write so many essays, research papers and dissertations at school\college - it helps to practice researching and writing skills. For me writing research paper is such a challenging assignment, it was very hard to find information and to clothe my thoughts and conclusions in suitable language!

Re: “When the numbers don't work

Unfortunately there is now the generation of IT technologies who don't pay much attention to the clearness of thinking and writing. Everything is done be the computer, so nobody needs to bother about spelling. However I think it will not lead to good results. Not saying about calculating your own budget and making some savings. You must know how to deal with money. Fortunately you may always contact your personal Internet provider and get specialized money help by giving all details about short-term loans.

Re: “A different core curriculum

You know they say 'a sound mind in a sound body.' I like these alternatives! I think Memorial Skate Park and Fit Body can help students stay active, positive and motivated to gain new knowledge every day. When you are at college you have to do lots of college assignments and sometimes it's really hard, for example, to write a dissertation. As a rule a dissertation reports the results of a huge, important, life-altering study. is the service that was designed to help students at all phases of thesis writing process. You can learn how to make a paper well-researched, well-structured and well-written for you to get a desired degree.

Re: “Student loans rob the future to pay today with wide-ranging consequences

Young people should make it a must to find out all the possible education financing options and avoid any kind of sensitive debt connected with studies, which is more than just a small consumer loan for a short term like this…. Otherwise they really risk their future.

Re: “Student loans rob the future to pay today with wide-ranging consequences

On the one hand it's not very difficult to get approved for a loan for education nowadays, on the other hand it influences later on the whole life of a young person and his or her financial abilities. It's my firm believe every young individual should seek for all possible ways to avoid student debt, unfortunately some graduates simply lack awareness of their possibilities.

Re: “Student loans rob the future to pay today with wide-ranging consequences

You should be going to college to obtain a degree relevant to your intended profession.

Colleges and Universities are not your friend - they are selling you education - no different from that slick willy that sells you a new car.

As such it is hard to feel compassionate towards someone who has student loan debt for an irrelevant degree than for someone who bought a flashy expensive car that they can now barely afford.

Re: “Student loans rob the future to pay today with wide-ranging consequences

Tuitions have sky rocketed, aided by an easy student loan program.

Essentially Obama has made easy money available, putting students in huge debt to pay off faculty to teach his socialist liberal agenda, all at the students expense.

The easier the money is the quicker the colleges raise their prices to get their is a huge and immoral scam.

Re: “The search goes on for answers to inequality in Colorado's schools

So when is the Independent going to run an article from those who did not think Amendment 66 was a good idea?

Outspent 10-1 they were still able to make their point to the voters - yet they get no voice here?

Re: “The search goes on for answers to inequality in Colorado's schools

Let's back up for a moment, TejonTech. The subject is how to improve public schools.

You wrote, "...educate parents how to parent, how to offer a stable and healthy family system." Your proposed solution would entail hiring more teachers, social workers, and administrators; raising taxes to fund the effort; worst of all, empowering the government to define for private citizens what makes for a "stable and healthy family system." Perhaps the most absurd aspect of your solution is that it will take parents who often must work two jobs to make ends meet away from their children so they can be lectured on how they ought to spend more time with their children.

I wrote that raising the minimum wage would be a much simpler solution to the problem of giving parents more quality time to spend with their children, but you object that some shadowy person, or force, or entity whom you never identify "never intended" for minimum wage jobs to support families.
