Re: “Raw Tools turns swords into plowshares

While the concept sounds nice, it is flawed. The types of people who are willing to give up their guns for this are not the types of people causing the problems out there with guns. Indeed, the problem isn't the guns, it is the people. In fact, there are over 37,000 people in El Paso County with concealed carry permits. To date, not one of them has been involved in an unjustified shooting. Those are numbers you just can't argue with.

Now, if we could just start bringing in criminals, and composting them for my garden, I think we'd be on to something!!!

Re: “Who Gives a Scrap diverts nearly 22 tons of arts & crafts supplies from the landfill

One of my favorite places to both donate and shop. As an artist, it's refreshing to find a place where I can find Little Treasures to use in my artwork. Everyone should check it out!

Re: “Megan Larmie explores John Steinbeck's The Pearl at TwentyOne8

Thanks for your feedback and your readership! Her work's really eye-catching I can't wait to see it in person for the first time.

Re: “Megan Larmie explores John Steinbeck's The Pearl at TwentyOne8

Great article - I've seen some of her other work at galleries across town. I really appreciate her technique. The pieces she produces are rich in texture and depth. The stark contrast between colors and designs is eye catching and creates a sense of abrupt change.

Re: “Jon Orr draws on occult and scientific archetypes to explore his ideas

I read an early draft of Ghostland in 2014 that was written by Jon Orr and Brandon Laney, and I really enjoyed it. Hopefully Brandon gets some credit for his work if this book takes off!

Good luck with it, Jon!

Re: “Artist Audrey Gray seeks a true blue hue in found pigments

The striking colors and textures are reminiscent of Southern Colorado and New Mexico. Lovely work.

Re: “After teen suicides, local school uses art to heal

Thank you Indy and Griffin for this well written and relevant article. Discovery Canyon Campus Community of students ,teachers, staff and parents make up a unique school. Like so many other schools, people come and go without interacting very much each day due to the many activities, academic demands, and personal focus. The continual stream of fish swimming together is a wonderfullly quiet, non-demanding reminder that we are truly not alone, even if we look different, see life or politics differently. I saw one of the fish on the floor the other day. It had fallen of the current and as I put "him" back up into the current I thought to myself that not one should be "lost" . Simple and very Real

Re: “Falling Starrs

There is so much that is heart breaking about this saga. Starr Kempf was so gifted and making routine pilgrimages to his sculptures is one of the highlights of my life (and pretty much what kept me going the few years I was stranded in that town). I have never seen anything like his work. His vision was unique, oddly functional, and just incredible to see in person. I sadly read years later that he had killed himself, which was a tragedy for the area, his fans, and of course his poor family. But the deterioration of his daughter's mental health combined with her methods of increasing the publicity of his pieces by bringing public bus tours to a private community and provoking fights with neighbors absolutely ruined everything. I don't know what's worse---that they could be removed and shuffled around, exposing them to potential damage; OR to be purchased by a private owner and given a permanent home where the general public would be unable to see them at all. There is just no ending to this situation that isn't crushing. What an incredible loss, and not at all the eulogy his talent deserves.

Re: “Jantzen Peake brings cartoons, skulls and more into the gallery

Jantzen, did Griffen know that You were commisioned to design the blues under the bridge cover last year? That example would of visually rounded out your skill set with a graphic, commercial type piece. Either way, congrats, keep it up!
