Re: “Will you fight in Trump’s War?

Jim you sound like a pathetic screeching child who was never disciplined. Daddy Trump will take care of that. Keep writing this trash it's hilarious.

Re: “The cost of cutting people and pay

I'm sorry, but isn't this the same thing that Whole Foods did to Natural Food Cooperatives and mom & pop markets all over the country? I get that this article is not ultimately about Amazon and Whole Foods, per se. But it's what RedBox and Netflix did to Blockbuster, as well as a whole lot of other independently owned video rental stores. It's what Starbucks and Dunkin' Donuts did to smaller coffee shops, and what the fast food conglomerates did to chicken and fish shacks all over the country.

Companies/corporations of any size are obligated to provide a good customer experience, and that's what makes a customer come back. People like the food at McDonalds, and they like that it tastes the same no matter where they go. People like not having to plan their week around a video rental (when to pick it up, how to decide what to watch, when it has to be returned, etc.), and so Netflix was successful.

If customers truly value the experience of talking to a cashier, then this platform will not succeed. As someone who worked at a video store, I thought people would miss having recommendations. Turns out it's pretty easy to solicit them from Facebook, and build your Netflix queue. Video store clerks are obsolete, like rotary phones and dial-up internet. Get nostalgic all you want, but blaming corporations for keeping up with technology and consumer demand won't give these workers more desirable workforce skills. Let's focus on where jobs are headed, and how to get people trained for the jobs that are sitting unfilled right now.

Re: “GOP supports corporate thievery

Im not sure that Mr. Beadles and I read the same Hightower editorial.
Somewhere he finds...
"An opinion piece laced, no ladened, with hate."

And I am completely at a loss as to where all that "hate" is found in Mr. Hightowers editorial, and I could not find where Mr. Hightower called "another person a solicitous name". (Does he know what "solicitous" means?)

He goes on to demand:
"Try an opinion piece with some positive ideas"
And:
"Let's hear some of your good ideas and suggestions that people might rally around."

I easily found the FOUR (4) bullet points at the end of Mr. Hightower's editorial that are "positive", "good ideas" and "real suggestions" that people can easily "rally around".

Did he actually read the editorial under which his response appears?

The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau was established under Dodd-Frank title X. Republicans have demanded Trump fire Richard Cordray, its head, ever since Trump was inaugurated, and are committed to repealing all of Dodd-Frank.

Re: “GOP supports corporate thievery

Well Hightower has a real case of envy going. An opinion piece laced, no ladened, with hate.

Any possible credibility went out the window with calling another person a solicitous name.

You, Mr. Hightower, are a large part of the divisiveness in America today. Try an opinion piece with some positive ideas. It's easy to tear others down (trying to bring hem to younlevel) as mom used tonsay.

Let's hear some of your good ideas and suggestions that people might rally around.

Dave :-)

Re: “Enjoy your freedom to die

I wonder if creepy, nasty, poisonous old Jim Hightower recalls the uplifting Jonathan Edwards song "Sunshine?" The lyrics, "He can't even run his own life, I'll be damned if he'll run mine" remain powerful today as left-wing ideologues continue to try to control people's lives.

Re: “Tweeter-in-Chief goes off to war

I am very, very pleased that Twitter allows our president to communicate with the American people without the biased filter of the media. Those creepy people are now trusted less than used coffin salesmen, and every bit of that mistrust has been earned. God bless President Trump.

Re: “Where are the Trump populists?

CSIndyReader, if you are inferring that a retired General had a job that required him to make money (as in business?) you are looney. The military spends our money! When he finishes with the DoD he'll wind up at Boeing or Lockheed/Martin or some other tax dollar sucking defense contractor - or maybe as a lobbyist for all of them!

Re: “Where are the Trump populists?

We tried to tell them Trump was a stone cold liar, that his campaign promises were hot air and not going to happen. Bend over Trumpaloons, you're going to get schlonged by Don the Con who has already broken every promise he made to you.

Re: “Where are the Trump populists?

If you were fooled by Trump for all the time he was running for President then you are dumber than a box of rocks. P T Barnum would have been proud, and would have called each and every one of you a sucker.

It will NOT be a refreshing change to see a retired General as the Secretary of Defense. That's the surest way I know to see more tax dollars going to the defense industry and our young men and women heading off to fight another oil war somewhere. (BTW, the DOD is the largest consumer of petroleum products in the world, hence Rex Tillerson as Secty of State).

December 19th will either be our salvation or will seal the fate of the once-free world.

Trump has one, singular goal, to destroy China.

Re: “Where are the Trump populists?

It will be a refreshing change to see business and military people in the cabinet instead of the usual political hacks and social activists - neither of whom ever held a real job or ran a business that actually needed to make money.

Re: “Where are the Trump populists?

The Trump voters were conned. Simple as that. Stocks soared once the banksters realized how profits would soar sans regulations, taxes, or environmental rules.

Reagan is dancing in his grave. Heil Trump!
