Re: “Sheriff Elder lashes out at Indy reporter

Bwaahaaa, Holems you crack me up...... your either an Elder crony or your someone who thinks the the earth is flat. I know that you keep saying that the docs dont have to be notarized, but no one is distracted from the fact that Elder and/or his command staff ordered those two to notarize documents more than one year later ( which happens to be illegal and therefore a crime), But dont worry your pretty little head..... the truth is coming out and neither you or i will have to prove it. Word on the street is that it is being looked into behind the scene. And in the famous words of Jim Carrey (in the movie Liar Liar) And the truth will set you free :)

Re: “Coal Mine Dragon's punishing lunch buffet

I've always thought the same thing.
Who wants this buffet when there are several better in the area. It's not like their delivery is any better.

Re: “Reader: We are killing ourselves

Maybe if the government agents to whom we pay our taxes did their jobs? The latest California shooter was not legally eligible to possess firearms. Yet when his neighbors (including one he killed) called police on multiple occasions to complain about him target practicing at all hours the local law enforcement failed to take action. Merely enforcing the tough laws passed in California would have prevented this attack by returning the shooter to jail.

Then there's the Texas church killer. If those federal employees in the Air Force had done their jobs, he wouldn't have been able to buy the weapons he used that bloody day.

If you can show me that I can rely on the government agencies that gun grabbers like yourself maintain is all we need to protect us, I might consider relinquishing the firearms I posses for self defense. But to say that we don't need them now is total foolishness.

Re: “Sheriff Elder lashes out at Indy reporter

People go off and do a lot of crazy things. You'd have to ask them. But it's true, they do not need to be notarized. Check with the CSPD, same with them. Your burden of proof is on Elder's wrongdoing. Good luck with that!

Re: “Reader: Progressives want to steal America as we know it

asawatcher, your ignorance is completely astounding. The protection for firearms is contained in the right. As in individuals have the right to firearms. Furthermore, the term "arms" refers to items of common use for individuals. Semi-autos are very much "common use", so no, you cannot ban all semi-autos.

Re: “Sign the petition, call your congressional reps, to impeach Donald Trump

now every response is a "whataboutism" . did it ever work to say "well what about jimmy down the street, he did it too"? doubt anybody's mom bought that weak justification. "grab them by the p@$$y" trump is a scumbag... doesn't matter about anyone else.

Re: “Sheriff's Office asks for crime footage

@Mike Randall - that's a great idea!

One would believe we have a right - it's a taxpayer owned building and they are government workers - their paychecks are funded by the taxpayer! It's our right! That would be some true transparency! And, didn't Elder say he was all about transparency?

And Pam, come on ... where is the KRW report?

Re: “Sign the petition, call your congressional reps, to impeach Donald Trump

@TruB Oh, rest assured, I am aware that GOPers are just a nasty as Dem officials. But here the Dems are asking to impeach the POTUS for doing things that they do as well.

Neither party does what it was originally intended to do. The GOP has swung too far to the right, the Dems have swung to far to the left, and neither is willing to work together for the good of the people. Washington DC has turned into one big cesspool.

Re: “Sign the petition, call your congressional reps, to impeach Donald Trump

That is hysterical Mike Randall. Maybe GOPers should take personal responsibility.
Politicians on both sides are screwing Americans but you go ahead and believe that the right wing isn't part of the problem. How about you spend more time equally applying where the guilt sits. It is really humorous that with the Actions of Roy Moore you want to only believe that dems are at fault.

Re: “Sheriff's Office asks for crime footage

I would like to ask the Sheriff's Office to start making video available to us of the shady deals that go on behind closed doors on their 5th floor and elsewhere.

Re: “El Paso County jail is home to people too poor to pay fines or make bail

This is terrible!!!

People should retaliate against the Sheriff's Office by not breaking the law and thus depriving the jail of any inmates. That'd teach them a lesson!!!

Re: “Sign the petition, call your congressional reps, to impeach Donald Trump

"... the terrible, amoral example he sets for the children of this nation, his numerous allegations of sexual assault and..."

Oh, that's an impeachable offense? Hmmm.... Let's see what else is going on in the news today:

"...says Democratic Rep. Paul Rosenthal of Denver inappropriately touched him and tried to kiss him at a 2012 fundraiser..."

"Democratic Rep. Steve Lebsock of Adams County has denied claims by a fellow lawmaker, Rep. Faith Winter, that he sexually harassed her at a party in 2016."

"A woman accused Minnesota Democratic Sen. Al Franken on Thursday of groping her and kissing her without her consent in 2006 while she was on a USO Tour overseas."

Maybe the Dems should spend less time trying to go after Trump and more time cleaning their own filthy house!!!

Re: “Reader: Progressives want to steal America as we know it

Odin;
There is NO protection for firearms themselves. There IS protection for the INDIVIDUAL right to keep and bear arms.
But Jasmine would be correct were she to point out that there is no protection in the Second Amendment for the manufacture of SEMI-AUTOMATIC weapons, or the importation of such, or the transfer of SEMI-AUTOMATIC weaponry.
It would be no violation of Second Amendment rights if we were to BAN the manufacture, importation, and the transferring of ownership of ALL automatic and semi-automatic weapons.

Re: “Spring's downtown bicycle infrastructure progresses despite growing pains

I think these bike friendly changes need to thought out better - our roads are already hazardous and driving is often a dangerous activity on streets seriously over crowded and drivers who have zero patience for anyone in their path vehicles, pedestrians or cyclists.

Where are the studies from the motorized point of view? Overnight people who parked on the street have their parking taken away and drivers are forced into traffic delays and congestion all so empty bike lanes can be kept available at all times.

Perhaps it would be in the public safety interest to consider adjusting sidewalks to allow for the bicycle traffic? Maybe we just dig up all the parkways trees and grass and turn them into bike paths - it makes about as much sense as what is being done to high traffic roadways for the sake of an alternative method of transportation.

And one might also question why if cars are suppose to be abandoned there is not a more aggressive attempt at improving public transportation options in this community?

Re: “Reader: Prayers and concealed guns won't change a thing

Mikeb45 lists the liberal, Democrats that were mass killers, so I just took one name at random:
I had forgotten the name of the shooter at Virginia Tech, so I decided to check out Seung-Hui Chos political affiliations.
Hmmm, seems Seung-Hui Cho was a Korean national, NOT even a US citizen. It is quite doubtful, then, that he was ever registered to vote, much less as a Democrat in Virginia, which doesnt even record party affiliation on voter registrations; yet, Mikeb45 makes the claim that he was a registered Democrat.
Im wondering how many more on Mikeb45's list of evil mass killers were in no way motivated by partisan considerations or would pass muster as a Liberal or a Socialist or a left-winger, much less a Democrat.
For example:
Nidal Hasan, Ft Hood Shooter was NOT a registered Democrat.
James Holmes was neither a registered Democrat nor any of the other attributes Mikeb45 claims of him.
And I dont think Harris and Klebold celebrated Hitler's birthday the way they did because their parents were "progressive leftists".
Mass shooters are alienated individuals, not individuals who felt they were a part of a political organization, much less a political ideology that generally opposes unregulated access to the unlimited proliferation of weaponry which enabled their actions.

Re: “Sheriff Elder lashes out at Indy reporter

You prove your theory. What would be their motive? If they arent required to be notarized, why would they have fraudulently notarized them? Unless they were instructed to do so. Please explain.

Re: “Drake Power Plant meetings slated to talk about sidelining

Poudre Valley coal-generated, SO2-scrubbed electricity: $22 per mWatt hr. Solar power, including massive subsidies: $100 per MWatt-hr.

Increasing electric rates nearly five fold is a great way to put financial stress on Colorado Springs ratepayers as well as chase the last remnants of manufacturing out of Colorado Springs. Add to the increased cost of production, calls from the mayor and the Gazette to increase the surplus rate (formally known as payment in lieu of tax or PILT) by at least 60%.

Utilities customers already pay an extra amount for each KWatt-hr they use to create a fake surplus in Utilities revenues that gets converted into a blank check for the City government. Continuing calls to provide a backdoor tax increase by upping the fake surplus above the new pothole tax and stormwater tax already put in place will continue to put stress on citizen budgets, especially those on fixed incomes

Re: “The Purple Toad fails to live up to its promise, despite cool mascot

Is it me or does it seem as though Mr. Schniper had already made up his mind about the place before even stepping foot in the door? He clearly has been disappointed by the Cow and is unable to be objective knowing this place is owned by the same people. The Purple Toad is by far the nicest place to eat in Falcon- the service is always excellent and the decor is both upscale and comfortable at the same time. What kind of a person slams a locally owned business for hanging up the American flag for crying out loud? This is Falcon, not L.A. or NYC and the place fits right into our neighborhood perfectly.

Ive eaten there a dozen times and everything Ive ordered has been fantastic. They actually do have a chef working in the kitchen who came from Patty Jewitt / Garden of the Gods Gourmet and was a contestant on Hells Kitchen. The reviewers opinion of just 3 out of the 40+ menu items is not a fair representation of the place as a whole...and Im sorry but Im pretty sure that most people prefer cocktails that taste smooth not being able to taste the alcohol doesnt mean there is a problem- it means the ingredients in the recipe are well-balanced. This is restaurant 101 stuff here... but I would certainly hope that the food writer at the Independent would know that already.
