Re: “Beloved Manitou Springs painter Charles Rockey dies at 87

I remember stumbling across Rockey's studio years ago on Canon. It was apparent that Rockey was a unique and special individual from fairy tale work he had in his studio. He was a very kind man and generous with advice about the artist's life. I loved going to Adam's Cafe for the atmosphere and to see Rockey's wonderful, wonderful paintings. It was like going to a Van Gogh exhibit, only it was Rockey's work. The food at Adam's has always been special, too. It all fit together so well. It was apparent that Rockey lived on his own terms and was a true artist in every sense of the word. He beautified Manitou Springs and captured its beauty on canvas for decades. Rest in peace, Rockey. You were a magnificent example of how to live. I hope Manitou Springs does something grand to commemorate his jubilant spirit.
