Re: “City Councilor challenges student on climate change

Melting of the Arctic permafrost, mass animal extinction, increased extreme weather, and flooding of coastal cities are related to what then? Climate change in the past has been slow enough for the living creatures to adapt and migrate, this rate of change is new and has, timeframe wise, a direct link with taking materials buried deep in the earth and moving them into the atmosphere at accelerated rates. It honestly doesn’t bother me if people cannot see the connection between those two factors but to deny they need to be addressed is just foolish. The impulse to downplay the danger is relatable and I think many scientist are trying to find a different conclusion, but all you need to do is read about what is happening around the world, reports from people living with a strong connection to their natural environment and the global trend is obvious.
