Re: “American Classics Marketplace

American Classics Marketplace is part flea market and part museum. A fun place to browse and be reminded of the way things used to be, it also has plenty of opportunities for picking up a bargain-priced item to complete your home's decor. Turnover is quick though, so you'll need to make up your mind on most things right away.

My only complaint? It's a very large and maze-like facility - thus you'll never remember where you saw something unless you take notes.

Re: “District 11 will ask voters again for a tax increase in November

Based on the size of the recent back door tax increase, a.k.a. El Paso County's increased property tax assessment, this group should have 8% more funding next year without doing anything.

Re: “Former Colorado Springs reporter named as finalist in prestigious contest

Hobbs shouldn't have trouble competing against young reporters at the Washington Post, as the Post no longer employs any reporters. All they have left are opinion piece writers and click-bait headline editors.

Re: “Colorado State Senate votes against re-appointment of lesbian Civil Rights Commission chair

As if her sexual orientation mattered. Her activism is the sticking point.

Re: “The fourth estate is in peril

The so-called Fourth Estate has fallen for its own "everybody is a victim" nonsense when the real cause is that they've become lazy and cheap. By becoming aggregation platforms and media conglomerates they have lost sight of what it means to be news organizations. Research, fact-finding, and the use of credible sources have been replaced by rumor, innuendo and the citing of the trend of Tweets as some sort of public fact barometer. That crap is not news and thoughtful people can see right through it. The only way to regain respectability is to abandon your lazy habits of the last decade and spend your money on reporters and true journalists - not opinion writers and blowhards. This publication is a case in point, as it has one true journalist - Pam Zubeck - yet it has dozens on the payroll who also dubiously claim the title.

Re: “City ballot issues: Just say YES to all three

Vote no on issue two. Stormwater problems are a developer-caused issue and should be paid for by a tax/fee on new development.

Re: “CSPD's academy flunks eight due to failing the driving test

Did they indicate how many failed the physical fitness test? I have seen them out running in the neighborhood around Murray/Galley and a large percentage don't look fit enough to be considered for a police job.
