Re: “Sessions to open door for marijuana crackdown

I am noting that the Vermont legislature just passed a legalization bill and the trend is for more to follow. The people have spoken on this issue in Colorado and we are reaping the benefits of legal weed with increasing jobs and revenue to the state. I doubt the AG can withstand the backlash his edict will cause nor does he have the funds to do a large-scale crackdown. Everyone knows that federal prohibition is guided by special interests, like big pharma and alcohol industries, which see legalization as a threat to their businesses. They fear losing patients when folks realize there is a cure for what ails them in a plant, not a pill.

I am proud of the Colorado officials who have stood up for this industry. Even Cory Gardner and I am not a fan of his by any means. Make your voices known to our officials during this time.

Re: “Citizens for Safer Neighborhoods wants retail marijuana in the Springs

The effects of legalized cannabis stores, besides the tax revenue generated, it would allow those citizens who deem it necessary to carry a firearm to be able to legally purchase cannabis to be used as medicine. Anyone knows that the medical cannabis registry does not allow one to own a firearm. The simple fact that now citizens could buy legal cannabis and skirt this rule should have conservatives and libertarians cheering.

A more relaxed and less anxiety prone populace is not a bad thing. Allowing the citizens of Colorado Springs this opportunity to purchase legal cannabis should be a foregone conclusion. After all, we voted for it five years ago...

Re: “Medical marijuana license fee hike closer to reality

They should not do this on the backs of the patients, who will likely bear the cost. What do we expect out of an anti medical cannabis council? I expect the patients to be first.

Re: “Can Colorado Springs get a cannabis-friendly City Council?

District 6 candidate Melanie Bernhardt has clarified her stance on recreational cannabis and has published a page in favor of this at https://melaniebernhardt.com/platform/reta… Don't let these candidates get away with voting against the will of the people on this issue.

Re: “Nearly $73,000 in dark money flows into Colorado Springs city election

I am glad that District 6 Candidate Melanie Bernhardt has not taken developer money in this election. Win or lose, she is a candidate which is not beholden to any interests except the voters and I wish to invite them to view her forum of the issues. She responds to her inquiries personally and there are multiple ways one can reach her melaniebernhardt.com/community .

All this money flowing for, as you remind us, a small paying job is scary, and causes me to not trust the city council members who benefit from these large contributions. Melanie believe she can run her campaign without the big money donors, and relies on small donations to fund her and public word of mouth. Let your voice be heard.

Re: “Colorado Springs City Council: Choices for the future

I would differ on your assertion that Pico is the only choice for District 6, Melanie Bernhardt is a progressive candidate and her message is catching on, https://melaniebernhardt.com/platform/bann… The people don't want development running roughshod over the BLR check out her views on this and other matters at https://melaniebernhardt.com
