Re: “Indy's 2019 city election endorsements

You should be ashamed of yourselves endorsing Suthers and not even giving a mention to Dennis Spiker, the youngest and most progressive of those running for city council. This paper has been going downhill for years and now your 50/50 split on ideologies has shown that you are pure neoliberal CRAP.

Re: “ADU ordinance: What to know

If they really gave a damn about affordable housing they would hit up the millionaires and billionaires (maybe a special tax on their mega-mansions and their hotels and their many, many properties?) to pay for decent housing, meaning housing that has access for this city's children to PLAY OUTSIDE--not projects-style apartments thrown up behind a Safeway supermarket and next to a highway! (Broadmoor Bluffs) They would do things like approve TINY HOUSES and TINY HOUSE DEVELOPMENTS in places where empty factories and strip malls sit, and, now this is a radical idea-- how about GREEN ROOFS on these new buildings? You know, like they do in backwards nations, like Germany? LOL! Then all of that additional concrete and pavement wouldn't destroy what is becoming smaller and smaller amounts of Nature in this once-beautiful city.

Re: “ADU ordinance: What to know

P. S. Please note that these are the size of full-size HOUSES. We have many homes on the Westside that are under this size; streets where the average size of a home is 900 square feet. Please also note that this kind of "solution" to affordable housing availability is anti-environment as you will have more warming and flooding,, less trees and nature. Gaebler and Skorman are into this? Let's do a test run and put these things, maximum size, of course, in their backyards and their neighbors' backyards. Let's see how they like it then.

Re: “ADU ordinance: What to know

More crowding, more flooding (but that can be solved with the blank check for stormwater correction, right? Rates can go up,up, up and we can pay, pay, pay!). More traffic, more pollution, more fire code issues-- but, hey, some people are going to make some MONEY!!!

Who cares about quality of life in Colorado Springs? It's all about the developers.

And don't think they will uphold the 1250 square feet requirement if this passes. They didn't uphold the size code next door to our home of twenty-five years in Old Colorado City. They violated the historic preservation plan as well and a FIRE ACCESS CODE -- and the Colorado Springs Independent turned a blind eye when we showed them the proof of wrong-doing. http://www.protectourwestside.com

Re: “Strawberry Fields legal battle ends, Broadmoor and City prevail

"Strawberry Fields legal battle ends, Broadmoor and City prevail"

How about:
"Strawberry Fields legal battle ends, The people of Colorado Springs, who fought hard to save a beloved public park, LOSE."

Aren't our elected officials supposed to protect our land, our parks?

(Oh, yes, it's a different era, one of insatiable greed. Will this be enough "Colorado Springs treasure" for you, Mr. Anschutz?)

Congratulations, "City," and "Broadmoor" on your great victory!

Re: “Air Force Academy Visitors Center project termed "a tremendous gift"

P. S. I was also once a big supporter of Skorman. The last year has opened my eyes (and not with just this issue). I am absolutely disgusted.

Re: “Air Force Academy Visitors Center project termed "a tremendous gift"

Anschutz and USOC and Developers OWN COLORADO SPRINGS. We are just the slaves now. They are draining us all for their tax benefits. Oh, and now I can see another advantage to the recent ordinance on Airbnbs. We don't want to have any competition with those new hotels we're going to be subsidizing!
