Re: “NEW UPDATE: No problem with religion at AFA, retired general says

After 5 years in the C Springs area and 4 at USAFA I can say I saw no "full, bright and easy to see Christian Christmas ornaments..." I am not affiliated with any religion nor was I ever pressured to be by anyone, faculty, perm party or cadets alike. The Academy conducts these studies in order to ensure they themselves are not overlooking issues- its called responsibility and accountability for any and all issues no matter how small! I have never felt religiously pressured, sexually offended or pressured, physically unsafe etc. No one is perfect, and unfortunately perception is often reality to people who are convinced there is only one truth to be found- the truth in their own conspiracy theories (talkin to you Rich..)

Re: “Shaking the foundation at AFA

In order to receive a notice back from the IG, all complainants are required to submit their names. I guess they were willing to do this at the IG level but are unwilling to step into the light of public. I do not want to believe that Gen Born (whom I have met and greatly admire and respect as the Dean) would knowingly and willingly commit this act however big or small it proves to be or not be. I will always stand by the education I received at the Academy. Never once did I call into question my professors ability to teach me the subject matter. I don’t know what their masters degrees are in and I do not care, the education I received and the professors who gave it to me are well qualified in their area and I think the accreditation board will find the same, even if the IG can find the tiniest of faults.

One last thought. Before we hear about how horrible the AFA is and how great Navy and Army are (due to the sheer number of complaints against the AFA in recent history), maybe we should consider that while the other two Academys seem to have less "incidents," perhaps the AFA is the only truly transparent and accountable one? How much is covered up that we dont hear about from the other institutions. I am proud the AF Academy is wiling and ready to take as much scrutiny as it does.
