The Air Force Academy will implement a new "safe-to-report" policy to protect cadets who come to officials about incidents of sexual assault.

The new policy, announced at an Academy Board of Visitors meeting, means victims who speak up aren't likely to get in trouble for violations such as underage drinking.

This appears to be the Academy's latest attempt to distance itself from recent scandals, including the use of mental health diagnoses to oust cadets who report they've been sexually assaulted from the military school, reported in detail by the Independent (Cover, July 19, 2017). See this story for an update on one of those cadets.
