Re: “Food deserts limit access to healthy foods for low-income people

My wife and I are working to alleviate these issues. We live in Peyton and moved out here last October from Roxborough Colorado. There are many things we are working on and we are at different stages of development and putting these plans in place, this time next summer will be a continuation of this years Infrastructure build - with much more progress made.

One of our avenues for income is to utilize dilapidated warehouses (which Colorado Springs has an over-abundance of) and convert them into living quarters for the resident farmer and his/her family as well as the remainder of the warehouse being used for food production through utilizing Aquaponics. I could go on and on concerning all of our plans and at what stages we are at, but I'll save my hot air for another day. The key thing here is being able to utilize vacant buildings to grow food in these food deserts, education, empowerment and enablement through mentoring and workshops.
