Re: “

Absolute best shawarma, falafel, and hummus, hands down! Authentic, and doesn't try to overdose you with garlic and spice like other establishments. Kamel is super friendly and really makes you feel welcome whether its your first time there or you are a regular. Great prices, great food. Now all they need is some bellydancers and it would be perfect!

Re: “Arabian slights

Downtown only needs to support one middle eastern restaurant: and that's Arabica. I have been so impressed with Arabica, that I return there at least once a week for lunch. It surpasses all the other middle eastern cuisine downtown in authenticity and quality. I'm addicted to their shawarma, and I don't care who knows it. Obviously Matt's tastebuds for hummus have come from a plastic container at the local supermarket. I shudder to think what a sushi review of his would reveal. Maybe he should stick to Pita Pit. Or if he's lucky, downtown will once more have a Jack in the Box and he can order the Chicken Pitas to his hearts delight. One other thing: Matt and the other writers at the Indy may want to consider laying off the "falafel district" moniker they seem so desperate to designate our downtown area. It's a little condescending and not exactly a fair representation. There are plenty of restaurants in other parts of town that sling falafel. However, if you insist on pushing "Falafel District", why not start giving cute little names to other parts of the city with certain reputations? Monument Valley Park can be "Hobo Gardens". Tejon St after hours can be "Date Rape Alley". Those are just a couple to get you started. My comments may seem harsh, but are no worse than this so called review.
