Andre Spencer resigned as superintendent of Harrison School District 2 on May 7 effective immediately. The district wouldn't reveal Spencer's contract terms and any payments remaining on his contract by press time without submission of a Colorado Open Records Act request, which the Indy submitted on May 7.

Spencer was at Harrison for 51/2 years and noted in his resignation letter a long list of accomplishments, including an increase in the graduation rate from 74 percent to 82.4 percent. He also noted he plans to spend time with his family and continue his effort to advance learning opportunities for students. Spencer was a finalist to lead Cincinnati Public Schools in 2017 and Seattle Public Schools this spring.
