Re: “The tick and the time bomb

Wow, what an amazing article!! Your writing this story is wonderful in itself, but you did it with extraordinary journalistic skill and I have to say Kudos to the Colorado Springs Independent for printing this!! :) Each and every article written helps us in the fight to regain our lives from this horrific and deadly disease. Not only do we have the bacteria to fight but a nationwide medical community ignorance and greed that is standing in our way. I read my bible every day as a way to help me through the devastation this disease has wrecked on my life, and one thing I know for sure is that judgement day is coming for those people who are knowingly causing our suffering. I am from Northern MN and became very sick with what they told me was Viral Encephalitis back in 2002. They initially thought it might be lyme disease, as I had a bite on my foot. I was deathly ill in the hospital to the point they told my husband to call all family to see me as I may not make it through the night. Three days later, I was miraculously much better, reason being, I was placed on IV Rocephin in case the Lyme test was positive. Well, lyme test came back negative, so they discontinued to meds and sent me home. That was the beginning of my personal hell that cost me my marriage, lost time with my children, sent me to over 52 doctors, 75 emergency room visits, 6 spinal taps, neurologists, psychologists, neuropsychologists, cardiolists, a full work up at Mayo Clinic with two weeks of "brain injury" outpatient treatment. You tell me the clinic that is supposed to be the worlds best cannot deciper between a brain infection and a previous "Brain Injury"? I think they knew all along and hopefully with enough prayers the truth will come out and many doctors will be losing their medical licenses and malpractice lawsuits. Lyme patients, be sure to keep journals and document your ailments, pictures when you can and always keep copies of your medical records. Keep fighting Lyme Community, everything we do to advocate and educate brings us that much closer. Much thanks to my brother Kyle, Rhonda Lofberg, and Tracie Schissel of for getting me diagnosed and on treatment. Extra special thanks to my hero LLMD here in MN and one in New York for saving my life, little by little, day by day! You are all true hero's and angels to me. Angela
