Re: “One nation under FOX

@ chinook11

I read this article and then read through your comments. They are very similar. Both you and the author clearly imply that to be liberal or progressive is the highest form of intelligence yet conservatives are sub-intelligent, “can’t think for themselves” lemmings. But I see no real substance in your or Mr. Lane’s editorials. You list 8 things you say are the gift of liberal thought. Do you know that for certain? Where are your facts? I thought about spending some time researching your claims then decided against it. People will believe what they want, with or without references.

I then marveled at how your unsubstantiated comments proved your hypothesis that conservative ideas must be an oxymoron.

You can’t pin a party button on legislation that protects people from people. That is what legislation does. It deters you from employing children, overworking employees, discrimination, murder, and rape or you will face punishment. To say laws, acts, policy, and spaceflight are liberal is ridiculous.

You state that Tabor is the fruit of “Toxic Conservatism.” That is infantile name calling. The Taxpayer’s Bill of Rights protects all taxpayers, both liberal and conservative. It restrains city government from un-checked growth. Read any economics book and it will tell you that government is a necessary parasite. It does nothing to stimulate the economy, only feed from it. Competition among private businesses breeds efficiency. TABOR is a way to force efficiency in a system without competition. Why should the cost of filling a pothole, plowing a road, or buying a book outpace inflation? The answer: it shouldn’t. What I’m saying doesn’t seem right? Are you sure you understand TABOR? Go read about it in a neutral environment. Don’t get all your facts from the Independent or the Gazette.

You say that the military’s healthcare is a form of socialism. To agree with you would be impossible because it is too complex an issue when you take into account Tri-Care and the fact that it is surrounded and sometimes uses public healthcare. Tri-care is a government ran HMO, not socialized healthcare. There is a difference. Have you experienced the military’s healthcare? I have. Let me ask you when you last saw innovation come from the military’s healthcare system? The next artificial heart?...A cure for… anything? I am not bashing military doctors. Some are great and some aren’t but their pay structure does not incentivize them to innovate. Our healthcare is far from perfect but is much better than most of the world and will not be fixed by the government. When has the government ever ran anything more efficiently than private companies?

When was the last time you looked at an enlisted man’s pay? As a non-commissioned officer an E-5 can expect about 40k a year. I was in the military and there is no such thing as the “eight-hour day” the liberals fought so hard to bestow on us all. They probably bring in the equivalent of 15 dollars an hour all told. You make it sound like a posh life. When are you signing up? My income doubled when I was medically chaptered (removed) from the military and went to work in the economy.

And I don’t know who “those people” are that you reference or how the military is a form of welfare.

Health care is not a right. Car care is not a right. Home repairs are not a right. Anyone who wants to be able to fix their car or their home or their body need only earn money. The more money you have the more choices you have. In America you really don’t even have to work that hard. And really…how many people in America die from the lack of healthcare? Where are the facts and figures? I have a family member whose boys are fully covered by Medicare. They don’t even pay a co-pay.

I want facts from both sides…not name calling and empty facts. Don’t believe Beck or the Independent until you read about it yourself. That is why I used to be a moderate liberal, then independent, and now a moderate conservative. And still my mind is open to honest debate.
