Re: “Sherlock Homeless

I am afraid to say this article is WRONG. Quite the contrary current plans for Undershaw are to convert it to a school, restoring the building particularly the elements related to Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. Internal changes to the building will be minimal and the legacy of the great author will be maintained. The school will open its doors to enthusiasts and visitors during holiday periods and plans to host both literary and drama events linked to that legacy. This is the opportunity for this great building to have a new purpose as an educational establishment, not only but it will be used as a school for the disabled reflecting its original purpose as a home for Conan Doyle's disabled wife. Private investment of £5 million will save the building from dereliction and ensure its future for the local community and Conan Doyle enthusiasts the world over. The overwhelming local support for this scheme with over 800 signatories in support of the plans shows the importance of supporting the current plans. This is what the fans of Conan Doyle and Sherlock Holmes should celebrate and they should commit to giving the DFN Foundation and Stepping Stones School all the support they can.
