Re: “Watchdogs criticize Trump's easing of ban on 'politicking from the pulpit'

Any time religion has mixed into laws governing a civilization, we have seen the eventual destruction of the rights of the individual that was proportionately equal to the power gathered by the clergy. That is why the men who wrote the Constitution were so leery of allowing religion any power into the government while they knew that the government itself must stay out of religious affairs. Read the works and letters of the Founding Fathers to understand what they intended, not what David Barton or some other religious leader tells you they said.

Re: “Planned Parenthood shooting leaves southern Colorado without abortion services — for now

Just because you think something is evil, does not give you the right to decide for all that it is evil. Especially your Holy Book says that the fetus is not alive before the first breath (read the Torah).

Over 97% of what PP does is not related to abortion. And the abortions they do are more safe than childbirth, and that is what is important. There were abortions in biblical times and they were dangerous to the woman due to the unsanitary conditions and the drugs used. The danger continued but women still had abortions. With PP at least the woman can have that medical procedure done in an environment that is clean and the people non-judgemental. As it should be.

Re: “Trumped up

More Americans have been killed by Right-Wing Christian terrorists than by Muslim Terrorists in this country, yet we never hear about them. We cannot try and keep out one religious group without going against the Constitution.

Re: “What do Coloradans Google more than other states?

That's better than "Can I legally marry my sister who is also my cousin?".

Re: “D-11 school board election, the road tax question, and more

Just a couple of comments for Mr. Faltz:

1) Social Security is not a government handout for your friends in Congress to play with to funnel money to Wall Street. It is a retirement plan that each worker other than government and railroad employees have paid into ever since they started working. It is not insolvent, nor is it on the verge of collapsing. If Congress would pay back what they have 'borrowed' it would be way ahead of the game.

2) The losses in the off year elections were due not to the Rethug talking points, but rather two different political reasons. First, there is not the usual turnout on the left during off year elections. Secondly, the Gerrymandering of districts have made the majority of the districts safe for the Rethugs.

Now a question. Why is it that the Deficit decreases, jobs increase, the economy grows ONLY happens when the progressives are in charge, and the deficit increases, the country hemorrhages jobs, and the country is thrown into depression/recession when the policies you favor are put in place? Every up and down cycle we have had since the late 1920's have proven this out.

Re: “Waste Management closes public recycling spot

My family has been recycling everything we possibly can including plastics, glass, cardboard, etc. to the tune of 6-8 large trashbags per month. We wanted to do what we can for the environment even though we don't have much money.

Now that the recycle station is closed, Waste Management says they will pick up the recyclables FOR AN EXTRA FEE. We cannot afford an extra fee on top of what we already pay, just so they can make even more money off of those things when they resell them. The transfer stations will accept the plastic, but again there is the fee of dropping things off there in addition to the gas to drive 20+ miles, something that can't be done on a tight budget.

So until there is someone who is more interested in the environment than the extra fees they can squeeze out of those who want to help the environment, our plastics, glass, and cardboard will go into the dump where it will sit for the next thousand years.

Re: “Red-blooded

Very interesting and explains a lot. Has Alex published this thesis? If so I would love to read the whole thing.
