Fifty-one athletes filed a lawsuit in U.S. District Court in Denver on March 12, stemming from their alleged abuse by Larry Nassar and others.

Defendants include the Springs-based United States Olympic Committee and its officers and directors who served in 2015.

The 135-page complaint accuses the defendants of "failing to prevent the sexual assault, abuse, molestation, and nonconsensual sexual touching and harassment by [Nassar] and other USOC/USA Gymnastics (USAG) Coaches, of hundreds of young female athletes." (Nassar is serving a lengthy prison sentence for assaulting female gymnasts.)

A USOC-ordered report issued in December found USA Gymnastics "engaged in essentially no oversight of Nassar throughout the lengthy period of his serial sexual assault of gymnasts."

The USOC declined to comment.

A scheduling conference is slated for May 13.
