Re: “It's ready, aim, recall against Morse

Re-evaluating and amending our Constitution is something we have done from the very beginning. The same people who wrote it, especially James Madison, we're part of major efforts to amend it after it was ratified. Amending the Constitution is as American as the Constitution itself.

That being said, it is time for a re-evaluation of the second amendment, which was written at a time when it took twenty seconds to reload a single-shot rifle. Being that fire-rates are now measured in "rounds-per-minute," and we already do limit access to many guns, reform measures start to seem less obscure and more part of the process. Statistically, countries who adopt gun reform measures like background checks, assault weapons bans, mag limits, etc, have decreased murder rates. If we add in mental health reform the numbers of gun-related deaths averted skyrocket.

Reform isn't punishing anybody. The American people, with unusual levels of popularity, at the very least support background checks, and many also the mag limits and AW ban. This trend comes at the cost of twenty-six lives in December, and the new and continuing attention brought to the everyday gun violence that we could be mitigating with better laws.

And to be clear, this whole situation does not fall under the umbrella of "removing existing minority rights" as gun-owners are not classified as a minority group that is religiously or racially based. And whether or not you agree with the Supreme Court process, they have ruled that these types of reforms are Constitutional. So... let's hope the American people get what they want!
