I’ll be honest, I dislike "perfect" pictures. Perfect pictures feel fake to me. They look overly posed. Unreal.

At first glance expressions seem perfect but if you take a second look you might see something in the photograph that gives it away. There’s just something about the "perfect" picture that is kind of boring.

In my business it’s hard to escape the demands of your customers though.

In between making perfect pictures, I have to watch, anticipate and photograph moments — real, unrehearsed, unguarded moments. Sometimes it can be challenge. Everyone is aware of the camera. I think, because of cell phone cameras, it's more difficult to capture a genuine moment today than in the past.

I’m happy to report that not everyone is aware of the camera all of the time and this year we captured some lovely moments, and some nice portraits too.

These kinds of pictures will last the test of time. If you're a wedding photographer, you know how just hard that is to pull off.

More than 40 weddings photographed, tens of thousands of pictures made, tons of edited portfolios and I’ve boiled it down to these images.
The best unguarded moments and portraits from our 2018 weddings. Enjoy!
