There's plenty of finger-nipping going on in the world of British singer-songwriter James Blunt, whose debut album Back to Bedlam has sold more than 10 million copies globally.

"I'm just very lucky," Blunt says over the phone from New York City. "I pinch myself every day."

A former officer in the British Army, Blunt uses his life experiences around the world to craft melancholic and passionate songs like his hits "You're Beautiful" and "High" that seemingly speak to the masses.

Currently, the 32-year-old, who is on his last touring leg for Back to Bedlam, is road-testing material for his highly anticipated follow-up. Among the roughly half a dozen tracks being showcased is "I Can't Hear the Music," a track Blunt describes as sounding very similar to the vibe on his debut.

Still, he's unsure where the future will take him. As successful as he's been, Blunt has promised fans a slightly different sound on the new album, tentatively due out next year. Unlike the solitary guitar and piano songwriting experienced on Back to Bedlam, the English performer is now penning tunes with his band in mind.

We'll have another year or so to see whether the promises about his CD will be fulfilled. But in the meantime, Blunt is making guarantees about his concert performances that we'll be able to verify much sooner.

"You'll get laid," Blunt says, laughing. "And you'll just have to have confidence in these things."
