Broadmoor Hall expansion plan appealed

Three citizens have appealed Colorado Springs city staff's recent approval of The Broadmoor's plan to expand its Broadmoor Hall to accommodate more exhibits during large events like the annual Space Symposium.

The expansion would claim part of an informal parking lot, leading the resort to increase the use of shuttles to and from off-site parking.

Residents Cyndy Kulp (who has written for the Indy), Walter Lawson and Karen Raymond assert The Broadmoor failed to comply with zoning codes that require consideration of impacts of a project on adjacent properties, neighborhoods and the road system. They argue a flood of shuttles and larger buses would "increase danger to residents riding bikes or walking" in the area. The Planning Commission will hear the appeal March 21. Their decision can be appealed to City Council. See below for the appeals.
