Check out the birds of Florissant Fossil Beds National Monument during a half-day trip Saturday, June 15, sponsored by the Aiken Audubon Society. Participants will meet at 7 a.m. at the Safeway on West Colorado Avenue and carpool to the monument. There will be a good amount of walking on varied terrain. Entry to the monument is $2. The local NAACP branch presents the 2002 Juneteenth Celebration, a celebration of the history of the African-American community in Colorado Springs. Friday, June 14 at Palmer High School, a Community Gospel Extravaganza from 6:30 9 p.m., and Sat., June 15, a day-long gathering in Memorial Park with music and food, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Call 475-7255.
