Re: “Shield 616 protects the protectors

Stop picking on Robert Lewis Dear? Yeah, because when he shot and killed multiple people "for the babies" (WTF!?) he really proved himself to be a functioning and well-respected member of our community and thus, we really shouldn't make a biug deal out of his human hunting.

This city is certifiably insane. You will protest the establishment of a second methadone clinic because "dangerous criminals congregate there" and refuse to offer a needle exchange or even view those with substance dependencies as human beings... And yet you bemoan the media's coverage of a man that literally and purposefully took the lives of others!

Re: “Explosives, junk contribute to Vista Grande neighborhood tensions

Do you not understand that his mother is caring for him? By providing housing and, I would imagine, taking care of most of his bills. I love how you claim he's a threat to the public when the only truly dangerous activity at the home was never and never will be tied to his own actions, since the suspect readily took credit for the explosives.

"An addict with multiple warrants", yeah, all for what? In sum, just because he lives a lifestyle that those around him don't approve of since it isn't exactly like theirs. All he's really done is choose to put a substance in his body that our government has made illegal while allowing for the wide scale consumption of other substances with nearly identical effects and chemical structure. How do you not see the hypocrisy there?

I'll tell you why. Because you think of him as an addict instead of a human being. Maybe if society actually acknowledged the humanity of people struggling with substance dependency and didn't constantly drive home the " fact" that we are dirty, diseased, evil criminals that care for no one but themselves, maybe we would be more able to move past that dilemma in our lives and see our own value enough to get healthy.

But nah, just keep on treating us as subhuman "eyesores" and getting pissed when we can't see our own human value. Keep trying to prevent the establishment of resources like methadone clinics and needle exchanges while supporting laws that push those of us unfortunate enough to come into unfavorable contact with law enforcement back into the cycle of poverty and addiction where it's pretty much impossible to get out of the system.

Because it's working out so well as we speak.

Right here folks, El Paso county's small minded ignorance at its finest.
