What are you talking about??? The city doesn't pay any retirement benefits after the fact like you are eluding to! The city makes a payment in lieu of social security to PERA for each paycheck a worker earns during their career....just like private firms pay social security for each workers salary during their career...and once the city worker retires, they city has nothing further to do with it....the city worker's retirement is paid by the PERA fund just like the private firms worker is paid out of the social security fund. City workers don't get social security...they get PERA in lieu of social security and it is funded during their career just like social security....once the city worker retires, the city has nothing more to do with it. In fact, private firms often fund a 401K in addition to social security....something city workers don't get. But we all realize you knew that...and were only trying to spread misinformation for your own greedy agenda.

Electric rates or cost per KWH have nothing to due with geographic area or are totally confused. The true cost of your power...or the rate is the cost paid per kilo-watt hour (KWH). Compare CSU's rate charges to other area utilities and quit trying to spread misinformation. Your comments are ridiculous.

And nobody can "give" us free water or even cheaper water...there is no local water and it is not cheap to pump water over the continental divide...nobody is going to do that cheaper.

Careful what you wish for....ask Pueblo what their electric rate charge is.

You do realize that PERA is in lieu of both Social Security (now there's a bargain for the tax payers) and 401K's combined? Compare the total compensation package of investor owned (private) utility company's whom charge the rate payers for the total cost of employee retirement which includes the total cost of Social Security payments (which PERA employees don't get) and the cost of 401K's (which most are now matching 6%) in addition to stock bonus programs and PERA is a bargain.

I know because I used to work for Black Hills Energy which included all of the above (at a greater cost to the rate payer than PERA) and the BHE retirement package was only considered average at best in the industry.

Experienced employees are hard to attract and all utilities are having to compete in attempting to fill positions with qualified people to comply with the federal NERC mandates and avoid penalties of up to $1 million per day per violation for any mistakes made. All utilities have constant openings that they are unable to fill with qualified persons. If you believe it is such a good simply need to apply. If you don't believe, you simply need to start checking the employment pages of all utility websites.

I don't expect you to take my word for it but I do expect you to do your due diligence and verify everything I stated...before spouting uninformed opinion.

Careful what you wish for....ask the ratepayers of BHE in Pueblo.
