Chico Days

When: Sat., May 14, 8 a.m.-3 p.m. 2011
Phone: 683-7960
Price: $25/adult, $15/child, $55 for a family of four

While there's a host of activities going on at today's Chico Days at Chico Basin Ranch (15 minutes east of I-25, halfway between Colorado Springs and Pueblo; detailed directions at, the one that sounds the most fun to me is the "Dung Beetles at Work" workshop led by Frank Krell of the Denver Museum of Nature and Science. Course if dung's not your thing, how about bird walks, plains hikes, bike rides, ranch animal petting, fishing, or wagon rides? You can spend a full day, beginning at 8, experiencing this working cattle ranch. Admission fees ($25/adult, $15/child, $55/family of four) support the Ranchlands Learning and Research Center Fund. — Kirsten Akens
