‘George Duncan is one of the finest pedal steel players in the state, and we’re lucky to have him here,” says Chuck Snow of his former Lo-Fi Cowboys bandmate, who continues to play out frequently with his own band, George Duncan & The Moonlighters. This team-up represents a welcome reunion of the two local talents, whose proficiency in all-things-Americana will lend further event-status to this evening of covers and originals. Snow has, of course, built a sterling reputation of his own, dating back to his early Replacements-obsessed days in The Autono and continuing on through “Whichever Way the Wind Blows,” the poignant benefit single he wrote and recorded at the height of the Waldo Canyon Fire. The duo’s one-off performance, we’re told, will feature mostly country songs, along with some rock songs that have been converted to country. As of this writing, we have no specifics on what those songs will actually be, but we trust that the duo will have most of that figured out by the time they hit the stage.
