Scottish synth-pop trio Chvrches is riding high on the Sept. 25 release of their new album, Every Open Eye, which peaked at No. 8 on the Billboard 200 chart. Ditch the pop comparisons now — vocalist Lauren Mayberry and synth players Iain Cook and Martin Doherty got countless offers from the international pop songwriting machine and turned them all down, persisting with a laudable DIY ethic. I fell full sucker for them after watching their NPR Tiny Desk Concert last year — Mayberry's voice is a national treasure, and their swirling synths blend into fantastic songs, perfect for headphones and dance floors alike. They're playing the Fillmore Auditorium (1510 Clarkson St., Denver,, 303/837-1482), with doors opening at 6:30 tonight. Available tickets start at $43, fees included. — Griffin Swartzell
