Re: “UPDATE: Downtown development includes Vermijo Avenue streetscape

There are large pedestrian specific walkways on EACH bridge... on EACH road that sit immediately on either side of this 'new pedestrian walkway'... which already CONNECT DIRECTLY to the America the Beautiful park! Has the world gone mad hahha. This is beyond insanity.

Re: “Springs reaches traffic death record, local soldiers deployed to border, Williams faces ethics complaint, and more

Well, as the local TV station noted... this number of deaths was from 1986. So 30 +years later, this article is not taking into account that the city is now double in size. Double the size and same number of deaths. Obviously even 1 death is not great, and accuracy surrounding the 'alarm' of those numbers is also important. Clearly a lot has actually improved safety wise to essentially make 50% the death rate of the 80's.

Re: “Springs announces Homelessness Action Plan

Actually every single 'megachurch' in the area, plus many many more were involved 2 weeks ago in the annual city-serve. They painted elementary schools, cleaned parks, moved mulch, and performed over 100 projects which the city asked for help on. This happens every year. Also some of the meetings actually listed in this article for this homeless initiative - are happening at community centers which were bought, maintained, and all community programs are still run , buy 'megachurches'. West Side Community center was purchased by Woodmen Valley almost 5 years ago when the city ran out of funds. The after school programs, meal programs, bike fix programs etc are paid for by that 'megachurch' to help keep the valuable asset in the community. Note that the 2 homeless shelters for this article = churches. Also Marion house serving meals to the homeless 2 times a day is Catholic run (pretty big church ;P) The Indepedent articles in the past have also mentioned homeless individuals comments regarding why they chose to reside in Colorado Springs rather than Denver 'because this city is more giving'. "Megachurches' and all churches in this area are probably the one of the biggest drivers for help, supporter, and givers to those in need within the springs area.
