There will no longer be a wait list process in El Paso County for the Colorado Child Care Assistance Program, or CCCAP, the county's Department of Human Services announced June 14.

That's thanks to a House bill that allocated the program an additional $21 million statewide. CCCAP, which benefits 1,701 families and 2,815 children in El Paso County each month, aims to help low-income families become self-sufficient.

Those on the wait list will receive letters explaining next steps and expectations soon, the announcement says.
