Re: “UPDATE, 7/9: Sheriff's race in full swing

I just wanted to say that Jake Shirk scares me with his "plans". I have read them all and they sound good, but if you take the time to look into them, you will also be scared. He stated he wants to cut the undersheriff position and PIO position to pay for more deputies. I looked into it and found out that he cant do this because the undersheriff position is a mandated position. It seems the more I researched the more I found all of his claims to be false.

With Maketa in office we will be far safer but Shirk will want you to believe otherwise. The average response time as it stands now is for critical calls is 6 to 9 mins. not the 20 mins that Shirk claims. Shirk claims staffing is down to 6 or 7 deputies, Maketa handed out a patrol schedule at a community meeting where it showed staffing never below 9 and most of the time there was overlaping putting many more on the street.

Shirk stated he had to request budget info for the office through the Colorado Open Records Act, this was not true, he never did. Also anyone with internet access can see the budget info for the office published as it always has been on the S.O. website.

Shirk has stated that there is a "difference between medical marijuana and illegal drugs". This is not true and I guess he failed to realize that federal law has not changed making it all illegal. This is why people are still being arrested for pot by the DEA.

Shirk reminds me to much of a golden tongue snake, he will smile and shake hands with you as he lies right to your face. Just this past weekend I watched him utilize the city of Monument's official vehicles for his own political gain. This is very wrong and illegal of him to do. He was driving up and down the road as multiple people wearing his propaganda t shirts were almost falling out the back open hatch. What tax payer in their right mind thinks this is acceptable? He is using out tax money for his own gain, while putting lives at risk.

I have said enough, Jake Shirk is bad news and I will do my best to see that he is not elected.
