Cory Gardner backs off marijuana defense

  • Imgur
Colorado’s Sen. Cory Gardner announced on Feb. 15 that he was backing off his hardline position defending the state’s marijuana industry against federal intrusion.

Gardner had taken the unusual step of saying he would block all Department of Justice nominees after the U.S. Attorney General’s Office rescinded the 2013 Cole Memo, which said that the federal government would leave state-legal marijuana industries alone. Gardner said his choice to lift the holds on certain nominations is a “show of good faith” in light of ongoing discussions.
