Re: “One local man's goodbye to the NRA

Bill Clinton proposed the same solution during his term yet I don't recall anyone resigning from the democratic party.

Unfortunately it is a violation of constitutional law to deploy troops on US soil in such a manner. A more feasable course of action would be to use armed local law enforcement personel or ex-military personel as security. both have proper training and expertise for the job.

Re: “One local man's goodbye to the NRA

It is a sad day when americans are so eager to give up their rights for safety. In the case of the recent shootings a gun ban, or even a total recall of all firearms would not have done anything to prevent this tragedy. Did the Aurora and Sandy Hook shooters not know murder is against the law? Did the fact that both incidents occured in supposedly "SAFE" and "GUN FREE" zones. Of course not these locations were chosen because they both are the safest places for a criminal to commit murder, a place were no one would be shooting back. The only thing that would have prevented these horific crimes was an armed guard or a citizen with a gun. criminals have no regard for laws of any kind. A gun ban would leave only the good, honest and law abiding americans at the mercy of a criminal element out of control. As in the case of Austrlia which passed laws banning all semi automatic guns as well as all guns with magazines of any type limiting Aussies to single shot arms which have to have the bolt, gun , and ammo all stored in separate locked locations. Armed robbery and home invasions skyrocketed with criminals having no reason to fear for their safety carried out their crimes with impunity on a totally defensless population. The second amendment exists for the sole purpose of defense, to allow the citizens of these United States of America to defend themselves, their country and the constitution against all enemies both foreign and domestic.
As far as Ret. Army Lt. Col. Joseph A. Ruffini is concerned, it is incomprehensible that he should now have such disdane for the oath he took when he enlisted.
