Re: “Indy's 2018 midterm election endorsements

What happened to the CSINDY? You used to offer strongly worded opinions and were the voice of progressives in our community. I don't understand your endorsement of Larry Liston. It doesn't seem very well thought out (to paraphrase, "we don't agree with him but he's a career politician, so let's keep him"), and it doesn't seem you did a very thorough investigation of his opponent Andrew Smith. Your position on Amendment 74 is downright wimpy for the CSINDY. You state that the amendment is being "pushed by the oil and gas industry," but fail to mention that it is designed to cover their investments should Proposition 112 pass. This is a little more alarming and less vague than "the proposition is too broad and benefits only tort attorneys." Be specific! You justify your stance on Amendment 75 by saying in part that "gubernatorial candidates support it" without mentioning that the backers of Amendment 75 are anonymous donors hiding behind a 401c. These are dangerous times, and journalists cannot afford to offer lazy, half-baked opinions that will certainly influence the public's voting decisions during such an important election. I've read your newspaper since its inception, and it has usually been a voice of reason in our community. This is an important election and the Democrats need to gain back as much ground as possible. It's no time for lazy journalism.

Re: “Lamborn targeting Civil Rights Commission over Masterpiece cake cases

The Alliance Defending Freedom is representing Jack Phillips in this latest case against our state officials and our Civil Rights Commission. One of it's founding members is James C Dobson. https://adflegal.org/about-us/leadership
