Re: “Desdemona says a lot about the company, if you can hear it

I have to agree with the posters above and question your credentials as a critic. If you would have taken the time to crack the script or have even given it a quick google, you would realize that Miss Vogel has written Bianca in full dialect:

"BIANCA: [Cont'd.] All women want t'get a smug, it's wot we're made fer, ain't it? We may pretend differnt, but inside evry born one o' us want smugs and babies. Smugs what are man enow to put us in our place."

As a near 70 year old man, I heard every word clearly and my wife and I have never enjoyed a play in as long as I can remember. This young actress not only had the task to throw an appropriate accent onto her character, but also had to interpret and deliver the broken writing and intent to an audience, which, in my opinion, she did with incredible flair and style. I have never seen Miss Roquemore on the stage before, but we are anticipating her next performance as she was unforgettable in a short amount of time. Mrs. Sheppard gave a performance worthy of praise, filled with comedy and a heartbreaking monologue that moved my wife to tears. You have completely missed the incredible social tale staged by these wonderful actresses and the Springs Ensemble Theatre in lieu of YOU not being able to grasp dialect as the rest of the art flew over your head. We are anxiously awaiting the entire season from the SET and can't wait to see Leah Jenkins, Sarah Sheppard Shaver, and Kala Roquemore grace the stages in the future. All in my opinion.
