Re: “Bigger than St. Peter's Basilica

Way to go Rich - give the public more 'justification' to beat up county employees. Did you just not research or did you purposely omit facts because it makes for a more inflammatory story? The "gigantic gym"? The space and ALL THE EQUIPMENT was left by Intel. The gym is also not open yet and when it is, good chance the employees will have to pay to use it. THe public will probably get to use it for free.

You also forgot to mention the cafeteria. This space is open to the public. A place where they can get a really nutritious and delicious meal for under $8. While you're slamming county employees, why not give props to (non-profit) Aspen Pointe for feeding them and the public?

So you had a bad experience with motor vehicle... after reading this and knowing the facts you omitted, I have to wonder how much of your experience was real and how much was just invented to piss off the public. I do not work for motor vehicle, but I know that they take more grief than any other county employee and make far less. You want to know the life of a motor vehicle employee? I dare you to go to what remains of the office at Centennial Hall downtown on November 30th. You spend the day there observing. That day should start at around 7:15am because that's when the public starts showing up. That day should end around 6pm or so when they finally get everyone cleared out. In between watch in listen to the people yell and berate the employees because they, the poor tortured public didn't take responsibility for themselves. Where else do you get 60 days to pay a bill? When was the last time someone threw something at you because they didn't like what you told them...oh, probably a lot... Walk in their shoes and then write something.

Hundreds upon hundreds of people make to the Citizens Service Center everyday...most of them in cars where they partake of free parking. The employees? If they want to park for free they get the lot up in the hill and a .2 mile walk with a 40' drop in elevation. Who knows, maybe the city will use this as an opportunity to improve our lacking public transportation...wait that would probably require a tax increase and we all know that this city wouldn't raise taxes if it meant a cure for cancer... want everything for free.

Spend sometime INSIDE the building instead of in that imaginary room on your head. There are no palatial spaces, just slightly cleaner spaces for the time being.

Slam the commissioners all you want but leave the employees alone. They're just trying to do their jobs like everyone else who has to abide by the laws and rules set forth on high. They don't write the law but they have to follow them.
