Re: “That's a lot of guns

This comment thread is an excellent example of why Colorado Springs will never have to worry that progressive, interesting and creative people will take over...

Re: “Walkability or the Ability to Walk

The University Village shopping center would have been an excellent place to plan more "walkability" access. With its access to the growing UCCS and to an underused waterway it could have been part of a new neighborhood instead of yet another big box complex. It's not too late for the developers to rethink their plans. But then this is Colorado Springs and progressive thinking is not usually part of our plans.

Re: “Cycling and the killing zone

Sometimes it is those motivational fitness cyclists who endanger those of us who use bikes for transportation and just enjoyment. I have often been overtaken and pushed aside by packs of lycra wearing helmetheads who find my more leisurely pace in a bike lane too much, or rather, too little, for them to handle. Excellent article.

Re: “C4C: Extreme measures

Could you possibly be more condescending to those who disagree with you, Mr. Hazlehurst? Do you seriously think that the dream of most CS residents is to line the pockets of yet more developers and their cronies so they can sip martinis at The Famous with people who call themselves journalists? UCCS is not going to leave town over this, USAFA is not going to leave town. You know who does leave this town? People who want to live in a city that isn't dominated by the religious right and retired military who could care less about schools and parks and public transportation. I find myself siding on this with people I would never think of voting for because at least they seem to want to listen to those of us down here among the plebes who are just smart enough to see a boondoggle when it waves its Broadmoor polished tail at us.

Re: “Big-timers could reshape Springs

"Think about the fact that Skidmore, Owings & Merrill would not waste its time or roll the dice with its global reputation except for a chance to make Colorado Springs a centerpiece for how to shape a mid-sized American city of tomorrow." So we should be impressed that a huge firm famous for skyscrapers wants to reshape our downtown while profiting the developers who control the city?

Suggest a fine nouveau Faygo for drinking instead of the cognac...

Re: “County Commissioners [heart] the NRA

Sheriff Maketa can speak for himself-this citizen of El Paso County is NOT the NRA.
