Re: “Sheriff's race heats up as Maketa slams challenger Shirk's credentials

So Shirk's endorsed by James Grayson and Lou Velez? Interesting...they both are his bosses at CTU, where he is an instructor. James Grayson is his camaign treasurer, and Lou Velez is the retired police cheif of CSPD. Isn't this the same Lou Velez who is responsible for the great Evidence Debacle? Yes, that's right, it is! He went so far as to try to hide it and then to even lie to the District Attorney's office about it! Now, that's some tawdry behavior! Interesting that Shirk is touting this endorsement, since he stated that "I live my life with integrity and honesty and professionalism, and that's what I expect from other people in this profession." Well, that is unless he's wanting their endorsement!

Maketa, on the other hand, is an instructor for the prestigious Penn State. He instructs for them at both national and international levels, teaching leadership and supervisory development. Penn State actually contacted HIM to instruct for THEM! CTU vs Penn State....wow there's a comparison!

Re: “Seeing double

intheknow, you hit the nail on the head. It is obvious that Zubeck is on a mission and violates numerous journalist code of ethics. She writes this story without the facts, as you pointed out, yet doesn't question Skirks campaign website where he has photos of police activities, which appear to be on duty. At least the taxpayers of monument know where their funds are going.

Is it just me, or is that guy really hung up on titles since everything is "chief jake"? And when is Zubeck gonna question him about wearing his monument police badge at the county assembly. One would assume that he was on duty since he had his badge on at the time. I didn't know it was acceptable to campaign while on duty at the expense of monument taxpayers. I'm sure Zubeck won't touch that one, since she's clearly tied to that campaign. I know that to be true because one of his ccampaign workers bragged about what was going to be written in Zubeck's article weeks before it was written. hmmmmmm????

Re: “Sheriff Maketa gets a stinging wakeup call on friendly ground

Newguy...Well said! Not Surprised....YOU'RE an idiot!! There are other jobs out there, maybe you should go find one. Woodmoores...I can't wait to see the debates either, Shirk will be hanging his head in disgrace! 1520...you're right, the truth does say another thing, maybe YOU should find the truth!

Re: “Sheriff Maketa gets a stinging wakeup call on friendly ground

Parkview....better check your dates...Maketa got back in the race BEFORE Evans got out. Go ahead, check the dates.

Woodmoores...I don't know if Maketa personally knows who the bloggers are, I said that if they think nobody knows who they are, they're naive.

Re: “Sheriff Maketa gets a stinging wakeup call on friendly ground

Maketa has done more for ALL the employees of not only the Sheriff's Office, but the entire county than any other elected official or department head has ever done. He has worked diligently with the retirement board, EBMS for YOUR medical benefits, fought the commissioners for funding to give YOU raises and buy YOU the equipment needed for YOUR safety doing YOUR job! He has worked hard at developing programs to actually generate money FOR the Office and the county during times of financial hardships within the county, which have saved YOUR jobs! Even when Anderson was Sheriff, Maketa was the one going to the BOCC meetings fighting for YOU! Keep that in mind!

Not one of you has any proof of the accusations you are making, and it's very clear you have your own personal issues, whatever they may be. Keep in mind that you can do all the bashing on these blogs that you want to do, but in the end, it will get you nowhere. And if you people think that nobody knows who you are, you are very, very naive.

PARKVIEW, you state the facts about his family and how you don't believe he originally dropped out for "family reasons". Since you obviously know his family (and they know you....ahem!), you probably ought to talk to them before you get on here and even have the gall to mention them! You, of all people, know that when he got back into the race Evans hadn't dropped out yet...so quit twisting KNOWN facts! If Maketa had ANYTHING to hide, he would have never jumped back into the race! He's back in because he cares about this community and the Office he serves.

If Shirk were to be elected, you worthless accusatory bloggers would get what you all deserve. The Sheriff's office budget would be ruined by Shirk, and your sworn jobs would become civilianized (something Shirk has PUBLICLY stated he would do!), your salaries would be cut, and many of you would lose your jobs! But hey, you'd get what you asked for!

Re: “Sheriff, former detective have crossed paths on multiple occasions

The sheriff and his family were victims of a crime, and Zubeck twists this into a negative slam on the sheriff? Really? It clearly states in the article that Cheif Breister assigned a detective who happened to be free at the time. Period! A crime was committed and and investigation was launched. Wow! Headline news!
