In an attempt to balance the budget, District 11 has decided to close its entire school system.

"This will cut expenditures by nearly 90 percent and finally allow us to pay our administrators what they're worth," said superintendent Kenneth Burnley.

Burnley said plans are in the works to rent out the facilities and bus system to various businesses, militia groups and Colorado College fraternities as a way to pay for his staff.

"This won't be popular with everyone," he said, "but we have some difficult choices to make. The voters failed to listen to us last fall. We can't afford teachers, schools and administration."
