Fort Carson is getting a killer drone unit from Fort Hood in Texas.

According to the Fort Hood Sentinel, Company E "Chaos," 227th Aviation Regiment, 7th Squadron, 17th Cavalry Regiment, deactivated earlier this month at Fort Hood Army Air Field.

The unit will reflag as the 4th Infantry Division's Gray Eagle Company at Carson.

The company operates the MQ-1C Gray Eagle unmanned aircraft system for reconnaissance, surveillance, target acquisitions and attack operations. Deployed in Iraq and Syria from June 2016 to February 2017 in support of Operation Inherent Resolve, the unit claims to have set a record for a Gray Eagle company by flying 12,000 combat hours and flew more hours, fired more missiles and killed more enemy fighters than any Gray Eagle unit in history.
