Re: “Star treatment

Wikipedia, that wealth of Nouveau cyber wisdom relied upon by the lazy, adequately defines "smear campaign". Mud slinging comes to mind also. What amazes me is the inability of the readers in our fair community to read carefully. To read carefully, and then analyze the information closely, yet objectively so their own venal desire to assume the worst is offset by objectively using their noodles to really think for themselves. Let's start with the concept of innuendo . . .next let's consider the news sources and their own petty self interests . . . as an example, might we want to ask a question, "why does a former employee, not work at the Sheriff's office anymore, and who is now supporting the opposition, take a cheap shot at the Sheriff?" What is his self interest? Could it be the avaricious anticipation of politcal payola if his candidate is elected? Another small example the reader should consider is, why is the article refering to pay raises, when in fact the person mentioned, successfully bid on a higher job position that comes with a higher salary . . .and is also given a"stipend" for doing what 3 people used to do? That is not a pay raise folks. Pay raises are given for the Position Description you are in now. A job further up the chain is a promotion, for which it would seem the person bid herself. Did she have an inside track . . .you bet! Why? We can reasonably assume professional competence, as well as chicanary. However, asumming professional competence? That's no fun, and our august author might not want you thinking that . . .means you might not want to read her article and create a buzz about it. Better to think dirty. Then she gets face time with her boss. The most logical thought, folks, is the comptroller got the job because she knows how to get grant dollars and how to manage the accounts, and understands the workings of a county office. Yah, but Makita went on a trip with her (think dirty here, Colorado Springs and El Paso County!!!). Could it be, fair citizens, that Makita needs to go to Comptroller and grant workshops, because there ain't no tax dollars in the coffer. My take on this article, is PZ is competent to write for "fish wrappers", for real indepth and competent investigative reporting she needs to get off her duff, and do some true detective work. As for what a citizen does in their off time, do you really think CSINDY would support making civilian employees into Hester Prynne? You remember Hester dontcha? She got to wear the Red A. Wonder what they called Yellow Journalism back in Puritan times?
