Re: “UPDATE: El Paso County commissioners eye sheriff's tax extension

Until line item documentation of how the tax was used is published, the public most likely will not vote for the tax . Tax payers expect accountability which has not been demonstrated..

Re: “Sergeant alleges backlash for reporting sexual harassment, supporting sheriff’s opponent

Anonymous1cos: You are correct that the line level people serve with honor and pride. What remains a mystery is what Sheriff Elder has done with over 17 million dollars annually derived from the public safety tax. If you were to do the math, at an average of a $5,000 monthly salary, adding benefits, over 150 additional people could be employed. The remainder of the funds for equipment and other necessities. Look to your leadership, I say that tongue in cheek, and ask why they are unable to staff appropriately. Sheriff Elder isn't in a ward , nor patrolling the streets. You live and breathe in an atmosphere of uncertainties each day and your community applauds and supports you.

Re: “Sergeant alleges backlash for reporting sexual harassment, supporting sheriff’s opponent

Sad to see the inevitable outcome of Sgt. Duda's support for Col. Angley. The Sheriff's Office has always been a pit of vipers seeking to strike at the very core of democracy in each individuals right to support a political candidate without fear of retaliation. This has gone on for decades. Employees have always feared for their jobs often seeking secrecy and silence in their knowledge of bad acts by those who are in management roles. The Huffor's have removed their Facebook accounts most likely to hide their support of Sheriff Elder while they were on duty.

What disgusts me the most is no one from the county commissioner's, the county attorney, or the media other than the CSIndy will ever acknowledge the harassment and retaliation that employees of the Sheriff's Office endure daily. Additionally disgusting is the management that berated Sheriff Maketa for the same acts and continue to stay silent. Shame on you! The public will never know the truth because our media outlets in Colorado Springs will not report anything that remotely supports the employees of the Sheriff's Office.

Re: “Sheriff's challenger Angley gets cash boost from his wife

Fact: Sheriff Elder promoted many of his supporters on day one without regard to the testing and promotional system. Fact: Sheriff Elder created a job "Chief of Staff" for his campaign manager. No other Sheriff had such a
position. Fact: Patrol levels are the lowest they have been since the PST was granted by voters. Fact: JAIL personnel are required to work countless hours of overtime because of low staffing levels. Fact: Both patrol and detention deputies are more at risk than ever before. Fact: More retirements and turnover over the last 3 1/2 years. Fact: No accountability has been given on the tax money you paid for the PST. If a dirty campaign is revealing the truth because the media will not, call it what you wish. The Fact is, the Sheriff has his select chosen much like Terry Maketa. Sheriff Elder has been and is being sued for poor choices and turning a blind eye. A dirty campaign is claiming your opponent is tied to the filth of the Dirty E..... website without fact. Sheriff Elder hides behind his desk and refuses to give the voters an opportunity to hear all sides in a debate. He calls that clean politics when in fact is it just hiding. President Trump ran against the political giant and media stream and was and is blasted for his beliefs much like Col. Angley has encountered. Voters should have an opportunity to pick a candidate and not let a political party or hometown newspaper pick their candidate.

Re: “Sheriff's challenger Angley gets cash boost from his wife

It is unconscionable that the majority of the local media doesn't give Col. Angley the same exposure they give his opponent. He is approachable, knowledgeable and extremely qualified. This shows he is determined to truly make this about the personnel at the Sheriff's Office and the community.

Re: “Alleged intimidation cases by Sheriff's Office scrapped

Anyone who believes that Elder's people would find against him are sadly mistaken. No different than everyone that felt the pain of the Maketa inquiry of the missing Elder file. Do you think the investigators would have implicated Maketa when he was The Sheriff? Politics at its best.

Re: “El Paso County Sheriff's lieutenant has been given six raises under Elder

I think you are both right in that Angley should not rehire retired employees. If he does, the same atmosphere will
permeate in not giving the current employees, who have weathered the storm, an opportunity to move forward. Politics stink! I wish the best for all you who have to run under the radar in order to stay safe. That isn't how it should work.
