Located inside the 200-room, independently owned Academy Hotel, dimly lit Falcon’s Bar & Grill beckons hotel guests as an offshoot to a large atrium just past the front desk/entryway. Townies can pop by, as we did out of curiosity, but it won’t be for exploring any type of groundbreaking menu; all’s as expected — familiar American fare available at bar/grills uncountable.

That said, it’s not bad — serviceable through-and-through if unremarkable. I should have added turkey ($1.99 extra) to a veggie wrap ($8.95), mainly ranch-drizzled lettuce with scant avocado plus red onion bite and black olive brininess in a spinach tortilla. Rabbit food. A chicken mushroom melt ($9.95) sogs buttery sourdough quickly, Swiss cheese bonding with the bread and some salty cognac button mushrooms (we don’t taste the spirit) sweating over a dry-ish breast into the fixin’s. Side sweet potato fries and onion rings ($1 each) are nicely fried crisp.
