Trap and skeet may sound like dance moves, but they're actually outdoor shooting sports, and they're coming to the Fort Carson Cheyenne Mountain Shooting Complex. Thanks to a new range, funded partly with state money, shooters can hone their hunting skills. All five county commissioners were among those who fired the first bullets at the complex June 28.

Both trap and skeet involve moving clay targets, but trap targets move away from the shooter, while skeet targets cross side to side. A statement from the county announcing the range's opening notes the 400-acre complex, which opened in 2013, has seven other ranges for pistols and rifles, as well as an archery facility. Though it's on Fort Carson property, it's open to the public.
