It's time to celebrate the classics at Sunshine Studios on Sept. 5 when the Gen-X Summer Tour rolls into town, bringing with it the heavy rock stylings of Buckcherry, P.O.D., Lit and Alien Ant Farm. The tour’s promotional materials promise that “this summer’s forecast is gonna be in the nineties,” and you can insert your own erratic weather joke there, as the origins and commercial zeniths of the starring bands are actually a bit more varied than that, bleeding into the neighboring decades on both sides.

Nonetheless, before rising temperatures boil us all alive in a few short years, you can revel in the bands’ renditions of “My Own Worst Enemy,” “Crazy Bitch,” “Smooth Criminal” and so forth.

Expect some new material, as well, since each band has remained active in recent years. Lit turned some heads with their latest LP, These Are the Days, which dabbles in a new, country-influenced sound. Meanwhile, P.O.D.’s 2015 concept album The Awakening was heralded by several reviewers as their finest release, Alien Ant Farm announced via Facebook that they had begun writing material for a new album in 2016, and Buckcherry members Josh Todd, Stevie D. and Sean Winchester released Year of the Tiger as Josh Todd & The Conflict in late 2017.
