Re: “TABOR tyranny

In my high school civics class back in the 60's my teacher taught us that our constitution established a republic not a democracy. A republic is government run by elected officials who are hired to do the job, hopefully in a professional and frugal manner (if not you can vote them out of office). A democracy is a government run by majority rule via referendums. 98% of the voters don't have the slightest idea what they are voting on and generally make up their minds based on feelings (not facts) they picked up listening to 10 second sound bites.
Mr. Bruce has thrust upon this state some of the most cumbersome and stupid legislation ever seen in our country and we will see the greatest effects in the next few years as our city deteriorates. The only thing stupider than TABOR is the fact that voters keep voting for this guy which confirms the fact that most people vote based on feelings and not facts.
I am no fan of taxes and I believe in fiscal restraint but this is not how to run a city.
