I too work for Utilities. I don't understand why Zubek and the public at large hate "us" so much. When you turn on your faucet, do you get good water? When your heater comes on, is there gas to burn? When you flush the toilet, does it go away? When you turn on the light switch, is there light? For goodness sake, give the working men and women a break.
Read the percentages. "Under the new pay plan, hourly workers' raises range up to 11 percent, salaried workers up to 14 percent, and management folks up to 17 percent. CEO Jerry Forte will get as much or as little as City Council sees fit."
Yep, the little guy holding everything together, getting all the work done gets way less. IF you look closer, you can see that there are discrepancies between Water, Electric etc.
Water overall received less. I know of employees that received a 2% “bump”. We are being punished for poor decision making over a long period of time. And as I recall none of us have had a COLA for two or more years.
The lady above said it well. I have lived all over the country and the Utility bills here are WAAAAAYYY less.
Perhaps we should have a "Utilities" board that knows about utilities instead of the developer funded council we have now. Then maybe things would be a little different. It simply doesn't make sense to allow the "political winds" to influence how a utility is run. Do we need to be frugal and spend money wisely? Of Course we do. Does that mean keep cutting staff, "do more with less they say" and quite literally take money out of employee’s hands until there is no one left to do the job that Colorado Springs citizens apparently take for granted.
