Co-owned by former Colorado Mountain Brewery and Trinity Brewing brewer Darren Baze, Goat Patch Brewing Company opened in late July. Tailgate BBQ, connected through a service window, had yet to open as of our visit, but customers can bring food in from around the Center or a food truck, scheduled for evening service.

We get a sample box ($12), with four six-ounce pours chosen from a list of nearly a dozen. We try the blonde ale, a super-clean brew with a malty sweetness that goes down like a dream. We’re also happy with a bartender-recommended session IPA, all West Coast clean bitterness with pine punch. The smoked ESB and Goat Patch Punch do fine too, though the former’s smoke buries style-defining esters, and the latter’s blend of fruity Belgian and dank saison yeasts reads more odd than inspiring. Each finishes crisp and clean, with no undue sweetness or off flavors. Goat Patch has the fundamentals locked in, making us optimistic.
