Good Karma's personality is hard to pin down

Good Karma (subhead: “coffee lounge & deli”) indeed does feel like several entities in one: a bustling to-go coffee/pastry counter; seating for full service amidst funky art decor; an ATM in back plus a booze list for wet brunch. All that makes it hard to pin down a personality.

Our food runs nearly a half-hour one Sunday, our server citing a lost ticket. Apple-chai quinoa ($8) disappoints by being too watery, on account of almond Bhakti Chai poured atop to season beyond cinnamon, stewed apple, raisins and walnuts. It’s sweet, but missing creamy roundness; capable without compromising its vegan/GF status. Better is the Colorado smoked trout Benedict ($12), texturally perfect from stable hollandaise to yolk-bursting poached egg to lightly toasted, fluffy English muffin. Tangy capers kick it off, highlighting the fine fish, while arugula nips the tongue and cream cheese duplicates richness. Bits of bacon elevate herbed breakfast potatoes.
